this was a busy weekend for me, but since yesterday was a holiday - the korean independence day - many people did not have to work. yay for 3 day weekends!

accomplishments and events of the weekend:
1) now know how to get to suwon by bus. it takes an hour. on saturday i visited lauren and she gave me a belated birthday gift: two little cans of nutella-like chocolate spread (YAY! yum yum!), and charlie chaplin in the great dictator. i laughed so hard i thought i was going to die for lack of oxygen. we camped out and watched it, the special additions, and a few i love lucy shows from a dvd set her mom sent her. that night we had coffee with her manager danny and his wife. they are a precious couple, and i sense God's deep love for them very much. i also sense they care very much for lauren and me.

2) that night we took a taxi back to suji, since the buses had stopped running. i evaded giving my number out to this korean guy, since i truly didn't know my cell number. (hahaha!) i think i will continue to walk in ignorance. it may save me in the future.

3) lauren joined me at global mission church sunday morning. i saw maria postema again (from last week), who has her mom and family friend bonnie visiting for 2 weeks from back home in michigan. after i got lauren safely on the bus back to suwon, i joined maria and a bunch of other americans for a great evening at an international dance/music festival put on by a nearby college. (we arrived on the scene as they're dancing to songs from moulin rouge. holy bedoley. how hilarious is that?) afterwards we got dinner and dessert and laughed nonstop. i truly believe it was a tension reliever for everyone to be around like-minded people and to just be american.

4) early yesterday morning i took the bus to bundang, met maria et al and we embarked on a day hike in the mountains north of seoul. it was a wonderful time, and we plan to go on an overnight trip next weekend. yes!!

now i am back at home and need to get ready for the week! (enjoy the following pictures!)
