the past few days have been fairly restful for me. i have tried to stay balanced in my sleeping and eating.. i can tell that i am starting to adjust myself to korean food. now i don't have to force myself to eat kimchi; i eat it because i want to. i still haven't gotten used to some side dishes, though.

the weather has been wonderful. right now the sun is shining into my apartment, and the air is clear and cool. at the moment i am procrastinating, because i don't want to prepare for my classes. yes, i am being a bad girl. :)

i have begun studying korean a little bit on my own. the language is linguistic genius. how did i not discover that in my descriptive linguistics class junior year? i spent the whole semester studying korean (not my choice- professor reed chose it, and the whole class did an in-depth study of korean phonetics, phonology, syntax, etc) and never realized how cool this language was. that is both amazing and embarrassing to me. anyway, i have begun slipping in a few random korean words while teaching, and immediately afterwards my kids' eyebrows shoot up and they begin talking rapidly with each other in korean. all i catch is 'sansangnim' which means 'teacher' ... lol. but i warn them that soon i'll know what they're talking about, so they won't be able to keep any secrets. mwahahaha!

tomorrow mrs. kim and i plan to finish up the paperwork and hopefully get my bank account opened.

saturday morning early i will be heading out with maria et al for seoraksan ('san' is 'mountain' in korean) for a weekend of hiking. what fun! pray for good, hard hiking and safety throughout... especially for the older women (maria's mom and friend bonnie). i kept telling them they were spring chickens this past weekend, but i know the hike was difficult for them.

be as lowly and simple in the midst of the most exacting society as in your own closet. do nothing from the reasonings of wisdom or from natural pleasure, but do all from submission to the Spirit of life and death - death to self and life to God.

i have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer i who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which i now live in the flesh i live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
galatians 2,20

may Jesus have the freedom to reign in your life today!
