my wonderful weekend trip aside, let me update you on a few other things. on friday morning mrs. kim and i picked up my alien ID card, and then we went and got my health insurance and bank account set up with KB (i don't know what it means yet). i was also able to get my traveler's checks cashed into korean won.
on a side note, the man who changed my checks had the audacity to ask for my name card. now friends, this man is in his early 40s, is married, and probably has children. and besides, he has all my information on the computer. what made it even more shocking is that he called my cell phone friday night to tell me they need further photo verification. i handed the phone to mrs. kim, and she said she would fax him the information on monday (today). he didn't seem to want to accept that answer and was even saying he would come to ERC! i was slightly confused, but both mrs. kim and esther said, "it can be that he has some different agenda. he does not need to come here to ERC." i truly hope everything is okay, because when we left the bank earlier that day everything had been taken care of. please pray that God would clear up everything. i told the other teachers if he was interested in learning english, he could bring his wife and i'd teach them. LOL
i would also ask your prayer for my classes. my classes are small, and every week students are coming and going. the first two classes are stressful, since i have to create lesson plans from nothing for these little kids. it is exhausting trying to "entertain" them. this - as well as the overall lack of stability - is so hard for me, and i struggle not to get discouraged. i don't know to what i should attribute the instability... is it my fault... the parents... or is it typical of a growing hogwan? every night as i wipe down the tables and sweep the floor, my prayer has become, "oh Lord Jesus, You create and establish my classes. take the wrong students out, and bring to me the ones You want. order my steps. give me wisdom, strength, and creativity. help me to be the teacher You want me to be."
throughout all of this, however, the Lord truly has been my Rock and my Comfort. my heart is set on Him. thank you all so much for your prayers. i cannot wait to see my Heavenly Father answer.
Praise the Lord-
1) the floors are heated in my apartment
2) i have fabric softener now... so my clothes don't feel like cardboard! woohoo.
3) i got to talk to grammie and grandy on skype! what hip grandparents i have. i love that when we talk, i hear both of their voices. they are awesome. :)
4) i also skyped with my friend stephanie from governor's school and william & mary... she is overseas, as well. it's good to share cultural adjustments together. :)
