the past few days i have slowed down enormously. friday morning i awoke without my voice, and so spent most of the day at home. i went into school to try to teach my last two classes, but mrs. kim and the other teachers wouldn't have it! they tried to pray for me in English over dinner. instead of teaching, i went to lotte mart and bought a blanket.
yesterday mrs. kim took me to a little restaurant in suwon that is famous for its' sam gae tang, which is basically chicken and rice soup... except they serve you the whole chicken- bones and all, stuffed with rice and ginger and plenty of other healthful goodness. it is served to you in a black bowl, still boiling, and you use both a spoon and chopsticks to eat it. koreans usually eat this in the summer, because (according to mrs. kim) that is when your body temperature is lower and you want to eat plenty of hot foods.
in any case, we ate and she had me take an extra one for later on. afterwards, she took me to a ENT doctor, who prescribed 7 different medicines for me. holy mackeral, i definitely didn't get anything in the states when i was sick. we'll see. afterwards, i spent a most wonderful, peaceful evening with lauren. just her presence was an encouragement to me.
today the park family took me to church. it was very good to spend a little time with them; their gentle love for me has meant so much. church was wonderful. pastor bob kim spoke on luke 8, 22-25, where the disciples fear for their lives amidst the storm. Jesus, however, calms the winds and the waves and asks them, 'where is your faith?' he also reminded us of what David says in psalm 56,3 'when i am afraid i will put my trust in Thee, whose word i praise. what can mortal man do to me?'
i find myself right now so very unworthy of the Lord's love, and yet so very thankful that He is mindful of me and every detail of my life.
