a private hike in the mountains, hm?? oh no. not for koreans, hiking is a big thing. everyone goes hiking. so, what if you have to make a pit stop? too bad, friend. we tried that. there are people everywhere. :) we reached this wall after basically scaling one part of the mountains (it was my favorite part - wish we could have done more!), and it led to a main point where about 100 people of all ages were resting, eating, laughing, etc. it was great. the group of 3 in the far lead in the picture were part of 2 family groups hiking together. the husband was a big, adventuresome man who spoke a little english. to inspire the women, he would say "let's go" and "come on!" the wives were so great. young-looking, athletic women - i was trying to figure out the korean word for "beautiful" ... finally after many attempts, we understood one another and i have my new word. to the american ear it sounds like "autumn-dup-ta" :) so for the last 30 minutes of the hike up the mountains we worked with this group of koreans, who invited us to share with them coffee and lunch.
