The Been Briefing

tonight is beautiful. the clouds during sunset.... ahh.

this morning esther came over for breakfast. i treated her to a very american meal of cereal and a banana. :)

UPDATE: i think i'm learning how to work with my refrigerator. things aren't looking as icy as usual. lol.

EXCITING NEWS: i'm actually starting to get good at using chop sticks. this chikin is going to be amazing when she comes back to the states! sometimes the chopsticks win and i have to settle for a fork... but not for long. no sir.

today i also met another teacher, who works at a different campus than either lauren or i. his name is jay (i don't remember his korean name... i can NEVER remember korean names. and i think i won't be able to remember them until i start seriously studying the language). anyway, he lived in the states for 6 years - for high school in new jersey and a year at the chicago school of art. anyway, he is a student at kyunghee university in suwon studying architecture and a full-time teacher with ERC. i cannot imagine handling both, so i take my hat off to him. in any case, he is a great guy... very optimistic and pleasant company. his english is excellent (though he makes enough mistakes to make our conversations delightful and him endearing).
it truly was a wonderful afternoon. i met him and miss yoon (one of the teachers at my campus) for lunch at tgi friday's - AMERICAN FOOD!!! i had mexican, of course.... quesadillas and fajitas, aaaaahhhhhh. this is ruth sighing with gratitude. :) - and then miss yoon had to leave, so jay and i wandered around suji (which actually isn't that big). he bought me my favorite ice cream (mint chocolate chip in a cone) as an early birthday present. awwwwwww! we found an in-line skating park and people-watched, found a bike shop - where he inquired about price ranges for me. for a bit we hunted for a movie theater, hoping to maybe catch cinderella man, but when he asked around people said there wasn't a theater here in suji. oh well. :(
it was a great time, and i am thankful for another friend here. while jay is korean, he has been greatly influenced by the time he spent in america, so he is almost american in his attitude and actions. even the way he dresses.... not the strange korean urban look, but the more casual american guy look. i confess it's refreshing. i was able to be myself, and so i am thankful for the afternoon's reprieve.

for some reason i'm thinking about legends of the fall. random. haha.

and now i'm off to do exciting things like ironing and maybe a little dancing to some music and eating leftover fajitas!! :)

~~~~~~~ looking forward to going to the english church service in bundang with sehwan and sehee's family tomorrow morning. pray i can make it back to suji on the right bus afterwards!! ~~~~~~~
